Sage Elsesser Keeps it Cool With the Converse Fastbreak Pro
Few skaters have carved out a lane like Sage Elsesser. A Converse CONS lifer, pro for FA Skateboards, accomplished painter, model and recording artist (under his Navy Blue moniker), Sage moves through culture like it’s a multi-level grind. His latest signature project with Converse CONS proves it once again – a clean, confident take on the Fastbreak Pro that blurs the lines between art, skate and street.
The Fastbreak’s story starts back in 1983, when Converse dropped one of its lightest basketball models ever. Built with a foam-backed nylon and leather upper, the Fastbreak was designed for speed and breathability. The model became part of hoops history when a young Michael Jordan laced them up during his UNC days and the 1984 Olympics. Decades later, the CONS team retooled the silhouette for skate, swapping in a sturdier cupsole, thicker rubber sidewalls and updated cushioning. What started on the hardwood now rides curbs.
Sage’s version keeps that legacy low-key. Dressed in black leather and suede, it ditches flash for finesse. Reflective stitching flickers under streetlights, while the star-chevron hits stay true to the Converse bloodline. Underfoot, the CONS traction rubber outsole and CX foam cushioning bring the comfort and grip that riders demand. Flexible enough for flicks, firm enough for impact. Reinforced ollie zones and a padded collar round it out for all-day wear, whether you’re pushing through New York streets or ducking into the studio.
The timing ties neatly into Sage’s creative orbit. His new album lands November 11, with a Camp Flog Gnaw performance booked shortly after. Sage Elsesser’s Fastbreak Pro ‘Sage’ is set to drop on November 7 via Converse and select retailers.
