Indie Band American Football x Vans OTW Link Up for Album-Inspired Release

A cult album meets a cult classic! have just released their latest , teaming up with American Football – the Midwest indie band from Urbana, Illinois – on a limited-edition inspired by the group’s iconic 1999 self-titled debut.
While the band, formed in 1997, have spent the past two years marking LP1’s 25th anniversary with a sold-out global tour, the release itself features subtle references to the original house on the album's cover with contrasting green hues, captured in prints and detailing throughout.
Meanwhile, the visuals feature members of the OTW team and pro skating, lounging, and interacting outside the house and street.
In 2023, the group secured ownership of the Urbana property to protect it from being torn down, transforming it into a place for creativity. The space now hosts artist residencies, exhibitions and collaborative projects.
The acquisition was a joint effort with their label Polyvinyl Records, along with photographers Chris Strong – who originally captured the album cover – and , as well as the art organisation Open House Contemporary.
'The house from the cover of LP1 has seemingly become a sort of cultural identifier and blank canvas for fans to write themselves into or onto – an expression of creativity or humour or whatever they may be feeling at the time,' the band said in a statement. 'And so we are thrilled to be able to collaborate with Vans OTW to incorporate that image so beautifully into the iconic design of their Authentic sneaker. Dream colab come true!'
The American Football x Vans OTW Authentic 44 'LP1' is available to cop now via the Vans webstore.
