Sterling Ruby Turns Vans into Wearable Sculpture for Holiday 2025

Sterling Ruby’s S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. Vans Clog green on foot

Sterling Ruby’s S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. to for Holiday 2025 with a collection that feels less like a seasonal drop and more like an ongoing design conversation. The headline act is the Vans Future Clog, a deliberately chunky, sculptural silhouette that leans into Ruby’s industrial sensibilities.

Built around a modular construction, the design pairs a hard, architectural outer shell with a softer inner clog, blurring the line between footwear, furniture, and wearable art. It’s blocky, exaggerated and unapologetically digital – almost low-poly in feel, like something that wouldn’t look out of place in the Minecraft universe. Whether that’s a flex or a turn-off depends on your appetite for risk. Either way, it’s a sharp left-turn from Vans tradition, and that’s exactly the point.

Balancing the experimental edge is the Prima, a premium reworking of one of Vans’ most recognisable shapes. Upgraded with full-grain leather and modern cushioning, it strips the model back to its essentials while quietly elevating the materials and finish. The result feels refined without losing its everyday wearability.

Rounding out the capsule is a micro-check Authentic, finished in muted black and beige tones with reflective hits and a rugged Vibram outsole – subtle on first glance, but packed with functional detail.

For those out of the loop, S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. was founded by American artist Sterling Ruby, and sits at the intersection of contemporary art, fashion, and industrial design. Known for his raw, often confrontational approach to materials – from ceramics and textiles to large-scale installations – Ruby’s work consistently blurs the line between gallery objects and everyday utility. That same mindset carries into his footwear projects, where classic silhouettes are treated as functional canvases rather than untouchable icons.

The S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. x Vans Holiday 2025 collection lands on December 16 via Vans and select retailers.
